Here Ye! Here Ye! A Call for Artists!!!!!!

Providence Optical will be accepting ongoing submissions and portfolios from Artists for our gallery space on the second floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Starting in March, and continuing on every third thursday every month, we will be participating in Providence’s Gallery Night! No cost will be associated with submitting portfolios for our panel of judges to view; however if you are chosen for an event on Gallery Night there will a small fee of $25–which will go toward the cost of food and beverages for the event.  If you plan on submitting work please include the size, year, and medium of your work; we prefer Jpeg. files on CD with a res. of 300 dpi, or photographs; and send to:

Providence Optical Grand Blog Opening!

First and foremost,
We must introduce ourselves to those who may not know us. We are Providence Optical; a small optical shop/art gallery; established in 1998 by optician Jim Sohar, and located in the heart of the financial district of Providence, Rhode Island. We have been catering to the residents of Providence and the surrounding communities for about 10 years now and we’d like to take some time to celebrate our 10th year in buisness!!!!!!  One of the ways we are celebrating this 10th year anniversary is by creating this blog to help everyone stay in touch with what is happening in our store and future events that will be occuring in our newly renovated second floor gallery space. We have created this blog for both our wonderfully gracious, and supportive four-eyed friends, (that includes you contact wearers as well–there’s no escaping from it), and also to those who would just like to stay in touch with what  is happening at Providence Optical.  We are very excited about these next coming months, for we will be exhibiting some wonderful art work from both local and international artists on Providence’s Gallery Night–the third thursday of every month starting in March.  Live music will be accompanying the openings on occasion, and new lines of eyewear will be making their way to our polished glass shelves….so please stay tuned for more updates!!!!!!!
